"Longest Set of Guild Wars Update Notes Ever"
Problem is, when you say things like that, you could deliver the second coming of Jesus Christ and it will still be deemed a failure by the community.
What ever happened to under-promise-over-deliver?

Probably not, but thats what apparently is happening. When you start talking about a huge set of update notes, people assume huge update. Unfortunately, you could write a 10 page essay about some small change to an arcane and pointless aspect of the game. It may indeed be the longest set of notes, but it wouldn't mean the update would necessarily be any good.

Then again you log onto a character to find you get max title if it would only happen once. Then because the title is account based logging into other characters would mean you already have it so you wouldn't be maxing it again.

Are they going to make this retroactive, or will this be like when they implemented the title and the Faction you used previous will be ignored (still annoyed about that one, most of the Kurz/Lux faction I accumulated since buying the game was spent before that, and therefore ignored...)

Doubt they will make it retroactive, as they didn't do that last time they radically changed the title. It would just be impossible to track that many accounts (4mill or so) and keep tally of how many jade/amber they got, how many scrolls, etc.

Hah, 4 million accounts.
They'd only have to do it for 200k or so, as there's probably not many more than that who are active.

Meh, I think I'll stick with my bet I made a guildie. 10k says Title rebalance and faction, just gonna end up being double points or something. And really I'm fine with that, more points, less of a grind, wouldn't be such a downer when you think about going for that second character.
But after what she said, I'm hoping for much more now. Sounds like alot more then just more points, looking forward to see what she's done. Just happy its so close

I predict the update will introduce a crash bug.
I'd laugh.

So next time, read it.

So why nerf it then if its so minor?
As you stated, next time READ it!

Keep in mind that the size of the update notes is not proportional to the amount of content.
Case in point: Sorrow's Furnance and the Titan Quests themselves had little update notes dedicated specifically to them.
There's just one thing I will never understand: Why doesn't ArenaNet never release the build notes early? Gives the community a chance to dissect them first for any potential problems. They did that for one set, and it was great.

a) Not finished them yet.
b) They aren't finalized until the day they happen anyways.
c) The notes aren't fully translated until that day too.
d) They can change minor things all during this.
e) No other company does this. The closest thing to what your suggesting is WoW's Patch Test Realms, but even then stuff can change for release and that's more like "COME TEST OUT THE BETA FOR OUR PATCH" less so than the release. GW just does not work like this.
f) all of the above.

Yes, this is exactly what has happened. Talking about long update notes has some how made people think that the update itself will be big. The update notes are quite long, make no mistake. A lot of it is changing numbers, however. Whether players would consider it a big update -- debateable. Last time we recently talked about an update being big, a lot of players thought that it wasn't the case -- when from a developer's perspective it was pretty big. It's partly because of the different amount of information you have access to. You all just don't see the sheer amount of work that goes into making even the most miniscule of changes. It's kind of like an iceberg, you all see what's above the surface of the water, but the developers see both what's on the surface and underneath.
I'd also like to point people to an update about the upcoming game update, which I posted on my wiki page.
